💡 For admission (rekrutacja) you need an education certificate (often with nostryfikacja - recognition if foreign), passport, photo and form; you apply through the university's electronic system IRK.
💡 To have earlier subjects recognised you need a wykaz ocen (transcript) and a tłumaczenie przysięgłe (translation by a sworn translator); every university has its own rules.
💡 For studying in Polish you usually need a certyfikat znajomości języka polskiego (often level B2); the exam can be taken at designated universities, the dates are on their websites.
💡 The legitymacja studencka is the student ID (often electronic, ELS); it is issued after enrolment in the dziekanat (dean's office); with it there are transport discounts.
💡 The sesja is the exam period; egzamin is exam, zaliczenie a pass, termin a date, poprawka a resit; the schedule is usually in USOS or on a board.
💡 The zaświadczenie o studiowaniu is a certificate that you are a student; banks, offices and transport companies ask for it; it is issued at the dean's office, often within a few days or online.
💡 Signing up for classes (zapisy) at Polish universities is done online, often in the USOS system, on a set day and hour: places on popular courses are few, so log in on time.
💡 To borrow a book you need a karta biblioteczna (library card), often the student ID; there is a termin zwrotu (return date) which can be extended.
💡 A loan can be extended (prolongata) before it expires: online in your library account or at the desk; for overdue items a kara (fine) per day is charged.
💡 Wifi in Polish universities usually runs through eduroam with the student's login; printing and copies cost money and are paid with the student card.
